Growing up, I lived in several communities across Virginia as my dad’s job with Virginia State Parks took us across the state. Born in Pulaski, we moved steadily eastward to Williamsburg, then Virginia Beach, and finally the Eastern Shore where I lived from second grade through high school. When visiting Blacksburg as a junior in high school I told my parents that I knew I wanted to be a Hokie and that I thought I would live in Blacksburg indefinitely after graduation. There was something about Blacksburg that captivated me then, and still does to this day. I graduated in 2007 with a degree in Biological Systems Engineering and after six years in the private sector I transitioned to a career with the state where I now work for the Department of Environmental Quality. My wife, Linda, and I met at Virginia Tech and have three kids who keep us very busy. You’ve probably seen us at the Blacksburg Farmers Market, any number of sporting events, ballet recitals, or out walking one of the trails in our area. As a volunteer with the Blacksburg Refugee Partnership, I have been awed and inspired by the way our community has helped displaced families find a new home. I am very excited to be part of a project like SHP that will help displaced families own a home in our beautiful community. I would love for you to reach out to me to talk about this project!
